Robert was a very old friend of mine since grade school. He lived only a few blocks from me and my mom. He smoked cigarettes in the 3rd grade and asked questions like what is beyond space? Kindof the philosophical "turtles all the way down."

We would have intense conversations about art, music, poetry. So we would sit, drink coffee and talk like beatniks, although he was a much better poet than I ever was.  He spoke several languages and I was particularly annoyed when he finally chose to write only in German.  Apparently he also had the tragic and romantic tendency to fall in love with unavailable women, once trying to throw himself in front of a trolley over a rejection by a waitress.  I wish I could find his books. One novel he wrote took place in the amount of time the character went through a revolving door. I lost track of his sister and mother after Bob and his father passed although I received a subsequent Christmas card from one of his nephews... when I received the news of Bobbi's suicide it was 1976.  I still think about him often.  I believe his sister passed as well a long time ago.
